Ice Cream for 50 cents!
I drove from an appointment in LA, near Dodger Stadium, and found a new restaurant that had a picture of an ice cream cone in the window. It was called The Cozy Corner. Okay. I don't need the calories, but I parked and walked in anyway. It was a large spacious area and I asked how much it was for an ice cream cone.
The girl behind the counter seemed almost apologetic when she said "50 cents." I asked if it was for one scoop and I said to myself, silently, "I hope they stay in business." So I said, "I'll have two scoops."
the man who was the owner walked behind the counter and said, "I'll take care of this." So he got me my two scoops.
I asked why he chose the location for the restaurant. He mentioned the landlord owns the entire block, the building was vacant and there's a school across the street. He got me my two scoops of ice cream - one scoop pistachio and the other was strawberry (my choice!) and I pulled out a dollar. The girl told me, "50 cents."
Hmm, what a deal I thought as I walked out.
They also had sandwiches ranging from $4 to $6. I almost asked how he decided on setting the prices for ice cream but I was afraid he might wind up raising them. Maybe it was their grand opening special. Otherwise, he could price himself out of business.
